1. The First Burn is Crucial
Picture this: You’ve just bought a new candle, and you can’t wait to light it. But hold on—resist the urge to light it for the first time and just dive in. For the first burn, it is super important to let your candle burn until the entire surface has melted. This helps prevent tunneling, which is when the wax only burns down the center, leaving a lot of wax around the edges. Believe me, I have made this mistake a few times & the joy of the candle is over so much quicker! Letting the candle melt all the way out the first time pays off with a candle that burns evenly and lasts longer.

2. Trim the Wick
Here’s a little secret from one of the biggest candle lovers: trimming the wick is like giving your candle a spa day. Before each burn, you've got to trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This helps prevent soot from forming, keeps the flame steady, and ensures an even burn. Plus, a shorter wick reduces the risk of the flame getting too high and scorching your candle. I know this can seem like an annoying extra step, but it is so worth it!

3. Don’t Burn Too Long
Me personally, I want my house to smell good forever, but little did I know I was actually putting my candle in danger by burning it for soooo longgg!!! When you burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time you risk the potential cracking of your candle & the candle could begin to develop soot on top of it. Don't worry though the lovely scent of your candle will live on after you blow it out!!

4. Keep It Clean
Candles are just like the rest of us, and they need a bit of cleanup! Once you have finished burning your candle for that time, take the extra second to remove any wax trimmings or other debris that made its way into the candle! Just snag a paper towel or your finger and it will be done in no time!!

5. Safety First
I can’t stress this enough: never leave a burning candle unattended. It is so impor4tant to be thoughtful in where you place your candle so that it is kept away from flammable materials and out of reach of kids and pets! It’s all about creating a safe and serene environment, so always follow basic fire safety practices.

6. Reuse and Recycle
You already know if you are a regular here on The Buzz that we LOVE to recycle our old materials to help them live on! Once you have burned your candle completely, don't throw it right out! Instead you can repurpose it and turn it into the perfect container for jewelry, clips, pencils, or any other little storage item! You just gotta clean out the last bit of wax residue before you would put anything in it.

Candles are just the best!! They bring such joy and relaxation to those who get the gift of smelling it!! By following these quick tips you are going to be enjoying your candle so much more & your candle will last longer!

Happy burning, and here’s to many more cozy moments! Love you guys!
